It’s that time; time to set those clocks ahead and move forward on your fitness routine!
Read below for ways that can help you get back on your Fitness Routine.
Join a Community.
Sometimes all we need is a bit of extra accountability and support. There will be good days and there will be bad days but being surrounded by like-minded individuals will help each other push through whatever your day brings! Sharing goals with one another helps everyone set realistic goals and achieve them too.
Request to Join our Wellness Community “Healthy Route Community” via Facebook. Would love to join you on your fitness journey aka ROUTE!
Find a workout partner.
Besides a partner giving extra accountability on the days where you simply “don’t feel like it” working out with a friend, can increase your intensity you put toward your workout. Remain competitive in a good way. Not so much competing with your partner but pushing each other to work harder through each exercise or each set/circuit. Additionally, you will be able to each expand your knowledge sharing different moves and exercises with one another. I know from a males’ point of view sometimes a spotter is necessary when trying to achieve weightlifting goals. Keeping in mind, working out with a partner is a personal preference. Some do better exercising solo, while others do better with a workout buddy. Decide what works best for you or what you have done in the past and get back into it!
Try a new workout class.
Trying something new allows you to look forward and be excited about something. Ask yourself; Is there a class that you have been wanting to try but keep pushing it off? If you are apart of a fitness facility, most offer classes; including cardio and weights, but also classes like Yoga and Zumba too. What about an Aerial fitness class you have been thinking of trying but haven’t yet? Grab that workout partner and do it together! I know for me; I have been dying to try a boxing class and you know what? I set a date to go check out the facility. Now I am excited! Hello 2021, they are now offering a ton of classes right online that you don’t even have to leave your home. If anything, start the searching and who knows maybe you will come across a class that’s new or one you’ve been wanting to try. I Challenge you!
Consider a Personal Trainer.
Online or Onsite; whichever works more ideal for you and your goals. Online Training can be more financially doable because is it much cheaper since everything is done virtually and nothing in person. Each Personal Trainer’s packages will vary and be different depending. Online training averages from $200-$500 a month, where you may have weekly check ins and/ or scheduled calls on top of your customized plan. Now, Onsite Training can range anywhere from $60- $100 price per session depending on the area/location (3 sessions week- $750-$1,200 per month). From personal experience I’ve had some clients succeed MORE via online but also where others succeed MORE via in person. As I said above this will strictly depend on person by person. Remember, you are hiring a professional to help YOU reach your desired health & fitness goals. The trainer provides the tools you need to succeed but ultimately you must be the one to DO IT.

Take Progress Photos.
I know, I know this is the last thing you want to do, let alone weekly. But I promise, if you are following a/your nutrition and fitness regime, specifically tailored to reach your goals, you will see progress. You cannot see the little bit of progress if photos are not taking these progress photos on a regular. Weeks, Months, Years down the line you will be SO happy you did this in the beginning of your journey. Progress pictures are important to compare changes but also, they keep us staying on track, especially with our nutrition choices. *Be sure to wear the same clothes and same background setting/ lighting for each picture. (Front View, Back view, one Side view) * I use the 1st Phorm App to not only track my calories & food but my weight & pictures too! I love having everything on one platform esp. being able to look at all my past and current photos at once.
Make a Schedule in Advanced.
I find keeping a schedule is necessary and should be a priority when trying to achieve any goal, whether it be your fitness goals or life in general. Time management and efficiency is how you get things done. The first step to being efficient with your time is keeping track of it, while logging everything on a schedule. I use At-A-GLANCE my week with monthly calendar to schedule each month, week, and day. Read my blog post for extra tips that I use with my planner “How to use a Planner for Success”.
Set Goals and Rewards.
Setting realistic goals will automatically be the initial step. That includes both short term and long-term goals. With each goal you set, plan, and write out a reward that goes along with each. This can be treating yourself to workout gear or a night out at your favorite restaurant, ect. There is nothing more motivating for your workout of the day than throwing on a new outfit, sneakers, ect. or planning to enjoy your favorite meal!
