Always a hot topic and question when clients are at the beginning stages of transitioning into a healthier lifestyle: “What Supplements should I start with?”
First things first, we need to understand that we cannot outdo a poor “diet”. There is absolutely no magic pill out there that will allow us to get in all the nutrients we need to properly function and achieve our fitness goals. Therefore, it does require work. It does require meal preparation and planning to live the life revolved around health and wellness. Even when one isn’t living what is meant to be healthy still requires prep and planning, but just seems more convenient because of options like drive throughs or grab and go packaged items. We know these options aren’t the best options, but we continue to proceed because of the lack of effort in the planning and preparing to have a better “diet”. That will be the last time I say “diet” in this post. Let’s shift the word diet to nutrition regime.
Your daily nutrition regime is what drives your overall fitness results. Your nutrition impacts whether you live a long and happy life or not. Your nutrition regime should be a balance of all three macronutrients: Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats while focusing on as much nutrient dense food sources that make up micronutrients. It’s one thing to count calories and hit your “macros” but when it comes to being overall healthier, losing fat, gaining muscle, and performing better; micronutrients must be considered.
