5 Tips to Keep Calm through Pandemic Panic

As the society goes through a pandemic crisis most of us result in a panic. Including myself!

It is important to be aware, plan ahead, and most importantly to stay in control.

Read below to keep calm and be proactive through this crisis.

 

Focus on your Immune System

Set up for defense by keeping your body in an alkaline and oxygen rich state. By doing this eat more of a plant-based “diet”. As well as adding in some of these Immune Boosting Foods:

Asparagus, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Carrots, Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Thyme, Oregano, Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Blueberries, Kiwi, Goji, Mulberries, Rice, Oats, Bone Broth, Chicken, Wild Fish, Chickpeas, Coconut, Walnuts, Mushrooms, Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar, Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Miso

(FACT- Many degenerative illnesses can only grow in an acidic environment. An alkaline body is rich in oxygen, while an acidic body is oxygen deficient.)

Here are some Acidic Stressors:

Stress

Sugar and simple carbs

Chocolate

Soda and most carbonated waters

Table salt

Coffee and acidic water

Vinegar except for apple cider vinegar (I personally have 1 TBSP AM & 1 TBSP PM)

 

Do not give up your daily exercise routine

you may have decided to “Social Distance” yourself, which is perfectly fine! There is a lot of workouts you can do right inside your home with or without equipment. Take this time to get creative or perhaps commit with an online coach you’ve been thinking to give a try. I can speak on my behalf, as I work with clients online customizing workout programs for them. Some individuals which only workout at home, others do a mix of both.

PS: There are some free yoga classes on YouTube TV, Hulu, Netflix.

As far as your kids go… lots of group activities, events, including most athletic sport teams seem to be postponed at this time. Temporarily sign up your kids with a local on-site personal trainer where there are less contact and less populated areas with one on one training. Manage your Stress

A Massage for YOU can make a difference. Massage Therapy increases circulation, oxygen and lymph drainage. This ultimately means a massage boosts your immune function. Continue with your massage treatments or add a weekly massage into your regime.

*If you are not feeling good with flu like symptoms or even a cold, pass up on the therapeutic session for now. If you are unsure and would like to discuss your symptoms, please discuss prior to showing up at your massage appointment. Do not hesitate to reach out and ask me anything!

 

Prioritize GOOD SLEEP

Get yourself into a good sleep routine; I recommend 10 PM- 6 AM. You’ll forever hear me preach on water and quality sleep. But during this time use the “extra” time you may have with less commutes; working from home and sleep a little “extra”. Besides well-rested people are better at fighting off any viruses. Its known that individuals who sleep least were substantially more likely to develop a cold. Sleep is critical for a healthy immune system. 

 

I encourage you to continue your daily exercise, practice more on breathing exercise, take more time to mediate, and challenge yourself as you continue self-talking MORE positive thoughts. Continue to wash your hands and don’t shame the elbow bump!

I participated in Marisa’s Challenge from March to May this year, participating in this challenge was more of a learning experience for me. I wasn’t a big eater as I was always busy and just would have another cup of coffee versus having a nice meal because it was quicker. Marisa taught me how to balance life while eating well and maintaining balance. My big Challenge was I wanted to make sure I could still enjoy life by eating fun food, having a nice relaxing cocktail while still balancing portion and healthy eating while getting in a workout 5 days a week. And She taught me just that! I learned to do that, While loosing 10 pounds! I am not ending this life style today I am Continuing it and shooting to loose another 20 pounds but will be over the moon to at least get another 10! I've been going to Marisa for massage therapy since the beginning of 2018 and she's my go to massage therapist when I know its time for my muscles to decompress. Marisa's background and experience in fitness and personal training really stand out from the rest of massage therapy that I've had in the past. And as a fitness enthusiast that lifts 6x/week, that's the best combination for me personally. From my very first massage therapy session with her, I felt like she was communicating with my muscles without me even saying much. It's like she was sensing and adjusting based on the feedback on how my muscles were reacting. I bring that up every session because I think that's an incredible skill. If you want to talk during your session, she will talk. If you just want to relax and shut eye, that's fine with her too. Very professional. Sometimes she runs promotions and specials during the holiday, I would definitely take advance of that. Schedule a session with Marisa and you'll know what I'm talking about!
